| Novice Pilot Rating Module one Venue: Wilderness Criteria: Medical Price: R 3500(Including Accommodation) Duration: 4-5 days |
A fun introduction into the sport of hang gliding, never the
less this course forms the back bone to learning to fly a hang glider. Designed to take
you from knowing nothing to doing successful solo flights at low altitude. These ground
skimming flights will give you a great grounding for mastering the basics of hang gliding.
Learn to launch and land a hang glider! Learn basic ground handling techniques, aero
dynamics, rigging and pre-flight procedures. Get a foundation for weather assessment and
glider design! This is the beginning level of your hang gliding career. You are still a trainee pilot and as such may only fly under supervision of a SAHPA rated instructor. Still very green behind the ears from a flying point of view, ;-) this course is a great intro taster to the sport and will only leave you hungering for more! |
| Novice Pilot Rating Module two Venue: Wilderness Criteria: Module one Price: R 3500(Including accommodation) Duration: 4-5 days |
This course is all about altitude gliding! After success full completion
of module one you will be entitled to attend module two in your pursuit to achieving your
Novice pilot rating. We will concentrate on extending your flying time which means
increasing the fun! Some of the minimum criteria are at least 5 high flights. A high
flight constitutes at least 1 minute in duration and at least 100 meters in altitude from
top to bottom. (Remember, you will have had multiple training flights from the dunes and
lower hills before you reach this stage!) You will be able to launch and land a hang
glider under a variety of conditions, know and recognise flying speeds, including stalls
and be able to do proper landing approaches amongst other things! After completion of your Novice pilot license, you would have acquired sufficient knowledge to be able to look after yourself under mild flying conditions and Novice rated sites. For the most part we still recommend the presence of a senior pilot that can act as a guide, allowing you to gain more exposure and flying experience. |
| Novice Pilot Rating Complete Venue: Wilderness Criteria: Medical Price: R 6500(Includes accommodation) Duration: 10 days |
